In the last few years, most of us have become automatically trained to buy soaps, wipes, kitchen-cleaning sprays, and personal care products with triclosan--a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent--in the belief that it will protect us and our families from germs in our surroundings. But, a year after this blog post in Scientific America summarizing a number of studies showing that using triclosan-containing soaps was no better than washing with regular soap, a new study has been released indicating a possible negative impact on muscle contractions in mice.
